Are you ready for something to shift?

You may have spent years carrying things that happened long ago and wondering why they still affect you today.

Maybe you're exhausted from overthinking. Maybe relationships keep falling into the same patterns. Maybe you've done everything you know how to do and still feel stuck.

At Kara Hill Counseling, therapy gives you a chance to slow down, look at what's really going on, and begin understanding why.

I don't believe people need to be fixed. I believe they deserve the space to understand themselves differently.

WHY THERAPY?

YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.

SO WHY DOES IT STILL AFFECT YOU?

A lot of people come to therapy after spending years trying to figure things out on their own.

They've talked it through. They've thought about it endlessly. They understand where certain feelings and reactions come from.

But they still find themselves stuck in the same patterns, struggling with the same relationships, or reacting in ways they wish they wouldn't.

That's usually where our work starts. When you’re ready, I’m here to help.

Areas of Focus

Many of the challenges we face today have roots in experiences from long ago. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, relationship patterns, self-worth, or the impact of difficult experiences, therapy can help you better understand what's happening and where to go from here.

TRAUMA & EMDR

You can know something is over and still feel like you're carrying it.

One of the hardest parts about trauma is that you can understand exactly why you react the way you do and still feel stuck in it. Part of you knows you're safe now. Another part still reacts like the threat is right in front of you.

EMDR helps people process experiences that continue to affect their lives long after they happened. »

RELATIONSHIP CHALLENGES

Many of the ways we show up in relationships are influenced by what was modeled for us growing up.

The way conflict was handled. The way emotions were expressed. The way connection was experienced. »

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

Our early family experiences play a significant role in shaping how we see ourselves, others, the world, and our place within it.

Together, we'll explore the beliefs and patterns that developed over time and whether they're still serving you today. »

ANXIETY AND MOOD

Fear and worry are natural human emotions, but anxiety can make them feel relentless and overwhelming.

Depression is more than a passing feeling of sadness. It can affect your energy, motivation, relationships, and sense of hope in ways that make everyday life feel harder than it should.

With support, healing is possible, and life can begin to feel more manageable and meaningful again. »

HELLO & WELCOME

I’M KARA, AND I DON’T BELIEVE THAT PEOPLE NEED TO BE FIXED.

I've worked in child welfare, hospitals, schools, and community mental health.

One thing I've learned is that people make a lot more sense when you understand what they've been through.

That's how I approach therapy. Let’s chat.

The Process

I can't solve your problems for you.

I can't make decisions for you or erase things that have happened.

What I can do is help you understand yourself better, notice patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and give you a place to be honest about what's working and what isn't.

I'm supportive, but I'm also pretty direct. If we're working together, I'll probably ask questions that make you stop and think.

The Reasons

You keep ending up in the same kinds of relationships.

You're tired of overthinking everything.

You feel responsible for everyone else's needs.

You know your past affects you, but you're not sure what to do with that information.

You're exhausted from holding everything together.

You struggle to trust yourself or your decisions.

You're tired of talking about the same problems without feeling like anything changes.
